On July 11, 2007, the House Appropriations Committee cleared its Labor, Health and Human Services and Education fiscal year (FY) 2008 budget bill.
The Committee approved $119.79 million for the Teaching American History grants program at the U.S. Department of Education, the same amount as in FY ’07. This amount is $210,000 less than approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, but is $69.79 million more than the President’s request.
On June 21, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved its Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services & Education appropriations bill (S. 1710). The Committee provided $120 million for the Teaching American History Grants program (S. Rept 110-107, page 231). This is $210,000 more than last year’s budget and $70 million more than the President’s request.
