He was my graduate advisor when I worked on my MA at George Mason in the 1980s. It was impossible NOT to respond to his boundless enthusiasm and excitement about history and the teaching of history. He informed and still informs the way I view the presentation of history to the public. I will be making a donation to the NCH through the Combined Federal Campaign in his memory. What a huge loss to the university and those involved in interpreting American history. I consider myself very lucky to have him as an advisor.
