National Park Service Fills Two Senior Posts

The National Park Service recently announced it was filling two senior positions within the agency. Stephen E. Whitesell was appointed as Associate Director of Park Planning, Facilities, and Lands, and Ronald C. Wilson was named Chief Curator to lead the Park Museum Management Program.

As Associate Director, Whitesell will provide leadership, policy development, and guidance in the areas of planning, design, construction, park facility management, and land resource protection. Whitesell will begin his new position in June. For the last 24 years, Whitesell has served as superintendent for six different National Park Service sites across the country.

As Chief Curator, Wilson will provide national leadership for development and coordination of service-wide plans, policies, standards, and procedures for managing National Park Service museum collections. Mr. Wilson has been head of the Department of Interior’s Museum Program since 1991 and will assume his new position on May 11, 2008.
