PIDB to Discuss Declassification of “Historically Significant” Information

The Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB) has announced it will meet on October 31, 2008, to discuss the lack of a satisfactory means to identify and prioritize the declassification review of “historically significant” information. The PIDB had identified a need to address this issue in the Board’s report to the President, titled Improving Declassification.

The meeting will be held at the National Archives and Records Administration, 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Room 105, Washington, DC, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The meeting will be open to the public. However, due to space limitations and access procedures, the name and telephone number of individuals planning to attend must be submitted to the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO) no later than October 29, 2008. ISOO will provide additional instructions for gaining access to the location of the meeting.
