Library of Congress Hosts Civil War Mapping Conference

An upcoming Library of Congress conference will take a fresh look at the accomplishments of Civil War cartographers and topographic engineers from a multi-disciplinary perspective. “Re-Imaging the U.S. Civil War: Reconnaissance, Surveying and Cartography” will be held on Friday, May 20.

The conference will be held in the Mumford Room on the sixth floor of the James Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public, but reservations are needed: contact specialevents@loc.gov or call (202) 707-1616.
