Act Now! Proposed cuts to NEH would bring funding to its lowest level since 1972

On July 9, the House subcommittee that oversees funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) passed a bill to fund NEH at its lowest level (in constant dollars) since 1972. If enacted, this $8 million cut would bring NEH’s funding level to just $138 million for 2015.

NEH’s funding has already been severely cut over the past four years, and additional cuts would fundamentally erode NEH’s capacity!

The full appropriations committee will consider the bill in the coming days. Please contact your Member of Congress and urge them to oppose the proposed cuts to the NEH.

Here is a link to the National Humanities Alliance’s “Online Action Center” that allows you to send an email to your Representative expressing your opposition to the proposed cut. It is vital that you take action now!
