The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is now accepting nominations for the 2008 National Humanities Medals. The National Humanities Medal honors individuals and organizations whose work has strengthened Americans’ understanding of or engagement with history, literature, philosophy, or other humanities subjects.

To nominate an individual or organization, please follow the directions on the NEH Web site. Besides a nomination form, this page also provides information about the awards, including eligibility requirements, the selection process, and a list of past honorees. The deadline for receipt of nominations is July 7, 2008.
