On May 6, the National Coalition for History joined twenty-one organizations and twenty-two persons in a letter to President Biden regarding the upcoming selection of a nominee to replace David Ferriero as the next Archivist of the United States. The letter sets forth the experience, characteristics and issues the President should consider in choosing his nominee.  It draws from a statement issued by NCH policy board member the Society of American Archivists issued the last time there was a vacancy in the position.

Although the White House has not given a timetable for filling the position, it is our understanding through various sources that the selection may be announced in the next few weeks.
